Displaying banners, posters and a friendly costumed “chicken,” United Poultry Concerns and San Diego Animal Advocates spoke up for chickens – loud and clear – in front of the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, CA, August 31-September 2. Denied permission to speak at the USDA’s National Poultry Improvement Plan meeting being held there, UPC and San Diego activists handed out UPC’s CHICKENS Brochures to passersby, explaining why eating and handling poultry & egg products make people sick and what they can do to avoid Salmonella enteritidis food poisoning.
