WHY:
Despite opposition even from some hunters, the California Fish & Game
Commission wants to use electronic ducks to lure Mallards and other
ducks so sport hunters can easily shoot them this fall. The electric
devices-marketed as RoboDuk, Perfection Deception, RotoDuck, Widdow
Maker, Moto Duck, and Mojo Mallard-are battery-operated fake ducks
with twirling wings that entice wild ducks to land and be shot. The
decoy is banned In Pennsylvania, and in a recent 6 to 2 vote, the
Washington State Fish & Wildlife Commission banned their use. Many
duck hunters oppose the electronic duck, as there is not even a
pretense of "sport" in the use of this guaranteed duck slaughter
gadget.
Please note that the CA Waterfowl Association reports that Mallards
and other waterfowl in the state show serious population decline. For
example, breeding populations of Mallards reportedly fell 17% in the
past year. It is URGENT that you contact the CA Fish & Game
Commission and DEMAND A BAN ON THE ELECTRONIC DUCK DECOY. Just think
of the cruelty and machosadism of the "WIDDOW MAKER."
